A Knight?
July 29, 2015
Posted by on Am I the only one who is surprised and somehow oddly intrigued that the first European settlers who arrived on this continent at Jamestown included a knight? Or is it just me?
No. Seriously. This fascinates me. A knight in shining armor? Here, in what would become the Americas? Or, maybe it was a knight who says nee. I don’t know. But a knight? Here. I just find that so astounding. Regardless of what was going on in Europe at the time, regardless of anything. A knight? Here? I just … it leaves me speechless.
Talk about a cool find. Fascinating stuff, for sure.

I can’t find anything about the knight in the Post. Is it my system, my eye or are you pulling our legs?

The article, as well as numerous others, makes reference to one of the uncovered bodies was that of a knight.
I had no idea… thanks for pointing to that article, fascinating stuff.
The maps might have said “here be dragons”, and so therefore a professional was called in…
That must be it. And dragons still there be. Where are knights today?
I finally found the time to share the Jamestown article with my boy who studied colonial America last yr. The survival cannibalism is disturbing but makes sense in the context of the hard winter.
