That Fox News Still Exists Suggets the Depth of the Problem

Earlier this week, the United Arab Emirates joined the United States in air strikes against ISIS.  I’m going to leave aside for the moment the issue of whether we should be involved in this.  One of the fighter pilots in the UAE force that assisted and dropped bombs on ISIS targets was … get this … a woman.  And, what did a Fox news commentator refer to this as?  Boobs on the ground … a riff on the now common “boots on the ground” description of having troops in a foreign country.  Yep … in a part of the world where many women can’t work, can’t get education, and have to wear clothes that cover them from head to toe, the UAE has female fighter pilots that participated in an attack on the newest most evil force on earth.  And, what does Fox News do — belittle the achievement and demonstrate their immaturity and stupidity.

Here’s the response from a group of American members of the military.  Nothing really more needs to be said.  Men do one thing, boys do another.  The members of the male species at Fox are boys.

Holy moly. That pilot should do some strategic bombing on some commentators.

Indeed. I’d really like to know what goes on in that guy’s head when he thinks it would be appropriate to say that. Or, maybe that’s the problem — there isn’t anything going on in his head.

And just when I think Fox News can’t stoop any lower. Ick. Great response by the military members though.

I couldn’t resist sharing this on Facebook. I totally agree with Carrie.

The only response to Fox I can think of here is: really?

Did we really expect anything else from the station that brought us Homer Simpson? 🙂 I’m not joking – I have watched the Simpsons, Family Guy and American Dad shows and while I appreciate the writer’s willingness to highlight the absurdity of some sides on some issues, it’s sad that this kind of commentary/thinking has spilled into the news world – – guess it’s an attempt for life to imitate art – – if Homer Simpson had said it, we could have just all laughed and talked about what a boob he was – but when real folks do it, it’s sad….

It was in a way, Mr. Bolling and Mr. Gutfeld probably did a small favor to to our culture – otherwise how could we have seen the long list of names added to the Open Letter that proves, beyond a doubt, there are more Nice People than there are Jackarses in the world – I like seeing proof that good people still exist and are willing to stand up for what is right – – I will never know this unless the boobs make stupid public statements to be refuted by those who are making a difference – –

I agree on both of your points … it’s an example of the media, which should know better, sinking to the lowest common denominator rather than setting an example of more intelligent debate. That’s the thing that gets me about so much that goes on in this country these days — it’s celebrating the stupid and the idiotic.

And, yes, the letter shows something, too. Although I’m concerned about whether it really means there are more Nice People in the world. I have no doubt there were a lot of idiots out there who heard what the Fox commentator said and laughed and said “cool” and then referred to the pilot as an “f’in’ raghead” or something like that. The reality is that his comment played right to the Fox demographic.

      It is remarkably sad.
