KingMidget's Ramblings

Pull up a chair. Let's talk.

30 Years Later

It’s amazing sometimes when an old song comes on the radio and you hear it for the first time.  Really hear it.
who’s gonna tell you when
it’s too late
who’s gonna tell you things
aren’t so great
you can’t go on
thinking nothing’s wrong
who’s gonna drive you home tonight

who’s gonna pick you up
when you fall
who’s gonna hang it up
when you call
who’s gonna pay attention
to your dreams
who’s gonna plug their ears
when you scream

you can’t go on
thinking nothing’s wrong
who’s gonna drive you home tonight

who’s gonna hold you down
when you shake
who’s gonna come around
when you break

That’s Drive, a 1984 song from The Cars.

Great song, I love how music sometimes makes the world stop and takes me away to another moment in my life. 🙂

Yep. In 1984, I was in college. I remember when this album came out and really liking this song. But I don’t remember the lyrics really hitting me that much, because, you know, when you’re 20, things just aren’t as meaningful. Now, 30 years later, love the lyrics.

You know I loved the song back in the day, but I never really felt the impact of the words. Reading them today gives them a totally different meaning. “Who’s going to pay attention to your dreams.” that didn’t seem like such a big deal back in the day, but now it means a lot! thanks for the blast from the past!
