KingMidget's Ramblings

Pull up a chair. Let's talk.

Enough Already

I no longer care if it’s a program that started under Bush or whoever.  What matters is that this kind of thing needs to stop.  The government has no right to blanket access to this kind of thing.  Disgusting.  This isn’t the kind of change I voted for in 2008 and 2012.

…Change… You know, if President Obama gives back the Nobel Peace Prize, I’ll stop ranting.

I still believe in him, and never expected him to change the world or to make systemic ground-breaking changes. This country and the world are far too complex for that. But … the Verizon story and now this one. It’s just too much.

It’s troubling. Perhaps the main protection against nosy governments is the stupidity of intelligence services and the overwhelming size of the database. At the moment – pre-robot searchers.

Maybe. There’s no way they could search all of those records by human hands. Problem is, like with how Amazon links people to books they may want to read, all it takes is for the guv’mint is to have some great programmers come up with algorithms to link data and reach conclusions that are unfounded.
