The Self Publisher, Part Three

It’s live …

Can I just say one thing before I get to the business at hand?  Yes?  OK.  I think that’s a majority.  I am absolutely thrilled and amazed that “” was available.  That it was, I believe, speaks volumes on the subject.  Theselfpublisher.  It’s time to build a community, a spirit, an effort to promote, encourage, assist.

I’ve invited a half dozen  fellow bloggers and self-published authors to join in the effort and I will always be open for more.  All you have to do is this:

1.  Be a self-published author with ideas and thoughts to share.  Lessons learned.  Things to do, things not to do.

2.  Be somebody interested in and furthering the efforts of those who self-publish.  In other words, if you’re interested in increasing the democratization of the publishing world.

There is no requirement for regular posts or contributions.  But, there is this requirement:  share what you’ve learned, share your new experiences, and be open to helping other self-published writers (or those interested in pursuing self-publishing) pursue their dreams.

I think there’s something to be said for a mission statement every now and then.  They’re typically hokey, but, maybe there’s something to be said in this instance.  Here’s what I think is the mission statement for  To educate authors about the opportunities of self-publishing and promote the efforts of those who choose self-publishing.

OK.  That’s a rough idea that can be improved upon.  Suggest.  Improve.  Keep this moving.

🙂 Figured I’d just throw this out there:

“To serve as a resource and inform independent authors about the available resources and opportunities in the realm of self-publishing; and to encourage and promote the efforts of authors who choose to self-publish.”

It’s really a wonderful idea and I think it could be a great resource to those who may want to self-publish but don’t have a clue how to start (not speaking about anyone specifically here hum…hum…) looking forward to seeing it pop up!

Debbie Ohi did a poll about buying self-published books. Thought you might be interested in the results.

Interesting. The final point is the most important … Quality still counts and that’s something I want to push on this new project.
