KingMidget's Ramblings

Pull up a chair. Let's talk.

Be Careful What You Wish For

First two-star rating on Amazon, with an explanation:

The story could have been told in 5 pages. It was shallow, unimaginative and dull. Kept waiting for the twist and it never came.

Sigh.  (Pssst … go to Amazon and click “no” on whether this review was helpful.)

Check out my post on Monday. I’m posting on this very subject.

You’re still averaging 4+ stars! There’s a bright side! That would get under my skin too, though. Just remind yourself there is a book for everyone… Whenever I rate a book on Goodreads I am always amazed at the breadth of opinions, someone always loves, someone always hates.

As Carrie Rubin told me … it doesn’t look right if every reviewer gives it five stars. So, the two star review provides some legitimacy in an odd way, but the comment she made about there being no twist. The fact that my book is the only one she has ever reviewed on Amazon, I wonder if she even read it. But … sigh … I’ll let it go.

Yes, I’ve heard the same thing! It’s actually supposed to be better for sales and outside interest to have a range of reviews, makes it seem like a real book instead of just one you asked an army of friends to read. Not sure that makes it feel much better though… 😉
