KingMidget's Ramblings

Pull up a chair. Let's talk.

Is It The Beginning Or A Blip?

A couple of weeks ago I ran a give away contest on Goodreads.com.  Sign up and you had a chance of winning an autographed copy of One Night in Bridgeport.  Hundreds signed up, two winners were selected, and I moved on.  Hoping that the 350 that included it on their “to-read” shelf might follow through on that at some point and buy the book.

Once that was over with, I decided to try the free Kindle download to see what would happen.

Yes, I’m beating a dead horse, but the news continues.

Since the free download period ended Monday night, there’s been a bit of a groundswell.  Yesterday morning, I posted about the additional four copies of Bridgeport that had sold since the free download ended the night before.  Over the next thirty-six hours, there were thirty-seven more downloads of the book — that’s sold, not given away for free — and seventeen readers have borrowed it through the Kindle Lending Library Program.  In other words, in two days, fifty-four new paid readers of the book.  (The borrowing program pays authors for each “borrow” in an amount that’s pretty close to the royalty I would get if they paid the $2.99 for a download.)

This is me at the moment …

It’s really great if you can get your book in the top 20-40 best-sellers in your genre, because then more eyes feast upon the title as they peruse the first couple Amazon ‘pages’ of titles in that genre. So kudos to you for ranking so high. I’m so happy with how well it’s been doing. It deserves the attention. I wish you continued success!

Yep … I’m currently in the top 40 in legal thrillers, so that’s helping. As well, I’m still ranked 67 in the Kindle Lending Library. I’d like to get that ranking a bit higher, but it doesn’t seem to be budging.
Thank you for all of your support. Some of the things you’ve done and suggestions along the way are what inspired me to go the route of the Goodreads giveaway and then try the free download.
